Real Fat-Loss: Losing Weight in a Busy Lifestyle

It’s no secret – the majority of people struggle with excess body-fat issues… More specifically, the ongoing challenge of losing weight – and keeping it off for good…

For most – it seems like a life-long battle that never ends…

If I had to categorize all the emails and blog comments I get – The number one request is for help on losing weight – and keeping the excess, unwanted body-fat off forever… all in a busy, modern lifestyle…

So, about a year ago – I started outlining my method for strictly helping people achieve real fat-loss – and keeping it off, for life…

Most people will be surprised to know that this method and approach requires very, very little amounts exercise – some experts would even say “it’s not enough exercise…”

And that’s one of the key points in this unconventional approach…

It’s not about constant workouts and an ‘obsessive’ fitness lifestyle – No, it’s much more subtle than that – as we are strictly focusing on simple, direct and real body-fat reduction – and NOT a full blown fitness regime better suited for single, 22 year-olds……

Modern life for the average person, people like you and I, is far too busy to stick to a rigid program that requires too much time at the gym – Or too much focus on meal spacing, food timing, managing of micro-nutrients/macro-nutrients, and all the other offers of unrealistic weight-loss methods…

What I’ll be sharing with you in the near future – will surely be considered controversial by many…

However, I would be more willing to simply call it ‘unconventional’ – as it certainly does go against the grain of all the stuff we see and hear in the mainstream media…

I know I lose weight and fat when I cvut iout all bread, pottoes, and other starches. But I love bread, pottoes, etc. ASo I cut down to maybe one or two think slices of bread and two small potatoes per day but it has no effect on weight or fat loss. Only q=when I eliminate completely does the weiht come off. Very frustrating.

    Joey,
I love the ULHBT. The Blowtorch diet is also great, so clean and healthy. I appreciate receiving your emails as my main obstacle other than time is motivation. Looking forward to hearing from you in the New Year.
  • alnun99
I have gained weight and I would like to lose most, if not all of it. I'll be looking forward for the free copy of the research you are currently working on.
  • simrita
the more weight i want to lose on my hips, butt and thighs ,the more i have been gaining inspite of exercising, brisk walks and healthy eating, including ULBHT from you.it is frustrating and at times makes me go binging on sweets.there's a lot of cellulite too.
  • tania
my fat seems to be on the stomach area, how do I get rid of it? it must be connected with digesting somehow.being stocked instead of being processed, so it's stocked in the place nearest to the stomach..
  • brianas
I am also anxious to see what you've come up with. I love the ULBHT video, but to be honnest, I rarely make it all the way through due to time constraints.
  • JoeyAtlas
Hi Briana - thanks for the input here...

What most women don't realize about the ULBHTM dvds is that you can break p the segments to fit your schedule - You don't have to do the entire dvd(s) - from start to finish in 'one sitting' - Does that make sense? What kind of results are you seeing so far?

    Thanks!
    Joey
  • brianas
    Hi Joey,

That does make sense! Thank you! I haven't been as consistent as I would
like with the workouts, but I have been managing to do them at least 2x per
week for as much as time allows (usually about half an hour or so) and I
have noticed a "tightening" of the area. I am truly amazed! Now I just need
to work on my motivation/ comitment!

    Thanks again!!
  • JoeyAtlas
    Excellent Bri!

Well, now that you know you can 'shorten' each session to fit your schedule - you should be able to get 4 -5 times per week in right? Please keep me posted ok?

You can do floor/mat work one day - and then standing segment the next - just alternate - and add in anything else you may have time for. Not sure if you have my Abs/Core dvds, - or you are doing cardio, etc...

    Let me know.
    Joey
  • brianas
Your abs/ core dvd is next on my list!! After my finances settle down (xmas,
car registration, etc.) I can't wait to get it!

Thanks for all your help, Joey, I am amazed!
  • JoeyAtlas
    My pleasure, Bri.

    Keep at it!

My latest battle is middle age spread. I am 41 but from the day I turned 40 it just keep on finding me. I do exercise, but the struggle around my waist is really affecting me mentally now. How do I stop and reverse this?

When I was a child I was not obese, I was considered a “thick” kid but never had health problems… until I hit the age of 15… then my body turned for the worst! I was kind of a late bloomer and started to rapidly grow into a woman.

  • Intellectually I know I do it, but emotionally I can not seem to stop "rewarding" myself
with "treats" when the hard day is over and/or I finally have a momement to myself (eating in secret!). It's almost laughable how I tell myself, "I've eaten healthy all day long and I've had a hard (or busy day) so I deserve a bowl of ice cream". It's insane! Suggestions for a better mental dialogue?

    Hello Joey,
Until about 5 years ago the only problem I had with my weight was when I got lazy with what I ate. All I had to do was get smart with food choices and make sure I had enough good calories so my body didn't think I was going into starvation mode but, THEN.....menopause happened! Well, I am please to say that the past 6 months have been great.....I've lost the 30 pounds I gained and I am back to eating healthy and smart. Now...it's getting toned and firm that is my biggest concern....I have problems my shoulders (skiing accidents..I was a little wild on the slopes! and played softball as well as other sports) and I tore the cartilage in my knee (softball!) So how do I get my arms in shape so I don't wave with "wings"? I'll be 58 in a few weeks....and I don't want arms that look it....even when I'm 60!! I am in the size jeans I'm happy with......I just want to be able to wear short sleeves and strapless again! My chronological age means nothing to me....it's what's in my heart, my head and my soul and in those places 25 fits me great! Thanks Joey....... for being and caring!!!!

Thank you Joey for all your emails and expertise fitness knowledge. I look forward to your emails and fitness information.
I am 52 yr old, 5'2 and weigh110lbs I have a small face and waist but my arms and thighs just refuse to get in shape. I was between 115 -118 but lost weight in the menopausal months. Also my face looks dull and patchy the moment I try to loose weight. Please advice on target weight loss for my arms and thighs. Also I would appreciate your expert advice on food and vitamins to get that glow .
  • Marj
Thank you Joey for all your emails and expertise fitness knowledge. I look forward to your emails and fitness information. I have always been an exerciser and feel I am in fairly good shape for my age. I could stand to lose 5-10 pounds, but I am actually pretty lucky that I can eat pretty much what I want as long as I exercise. I would say my biggest problem is how do you tighten up your skin on your legs, chest, etc without surgery. Is there any exercises that help for that? Your leg, hip, butt DVD does wonders, but I could still use some tightening up. Your fitness partner for life! Marj
  • Diana Taylor
In the past when I lost weight the fat on my stomach was the first to go...now at age 57...it seems I just can't get rid of it. Any suggestions?
  • Dana R
    Hi Joey,
I appreciate the fact that you continue to persist in the ongoing women's (mostly anyway) fight against the fat. I have recently put on 15 extra pounds, despite pretty consistent exercising, and trying to eat more conscientiously--I'm not saying I've been perfect--but I'd say I'm consistent over 60% of the time--and yet, I've gained 15 pounds in less than 6 months!! I'm very frustrated with trying to figure out the best exercise plan, diet plan, etc. As you mentioned, there are a million "opinions" about what works, and it just gets me confused.
I'm 5'1" and weigh (I'm so embarrassed to say) 140 lbs, and am in my early 40's. I eat no artificial sweeteners, mostly organic produce, do interval training (25-40 min 3X week) by walking steep hills by my home, or sprinting on the flat, and do weights and yoga 3X week.
I can't honestly abide by your suggested diet approach from the ULHBT video--it seems to restrictive when I'm also trying to cook for a family of teenagers and my husband.
So, I need something that is "real food" suggestions that can be served as a meal for families; also, a way to figure calorie intake (I know this is probably my biggest factor of weight gain) on a very busy schedule; and the most effective weight routine to get stronger, and slim up--not bulk up.
That's my 75 cents worth! Hope it makes sense and you can help me and other women get the weight off that they desperately want and need.
  • alainem
Can't wait to see what you've got coming for us Joey. Your LHBT workout is the best I've ever done - I can work out in the privacy of my own home - just turned 50 and have been told I have a better body than most 35 year olds - so I'll keep working out and eating healthy!! But if you have a work out that helps with the psychological side of aging I would really be interested. lol
    thanks Joey!
  • Donna
Joey since I came across your work online about a year ago, I have taken a very serious approach to my health. I had been up to 199 pounds and I am now down to 145 pounds. My goal is to get to 130 and stay there. Here is what I find to be my greatest challenge and maybe you can address this for me: How much time do I need to put into a work-out to in a day in order to continue weight loss? I find that I can't always exercise for an hour or more, as I have been doing. Give me some tips please.

Thank you for your valuable help all year and please continue to help people like me.
  • Sharon Lowe
Hi! I'm 53 y/o in a size 12. I would like to be in a size 10 or 8 but have not had much luck in losing weight. We eat out a lot and drink 1-2 alcoholic beverages 4-5 nights per week. Not much time for exercise as I work full time, tutor 2 nights a week, hold an office in a club, on several committees and will work part time after the holidays. Help, please.
  • amandeep
    Hi Joey,
I am glad you have always been a wonderful instructor. Here, I have a problem not with the weight exactly but it is my digestion. My digestion fluctuates a lot, people say it is my eating habit, but, I must tell you it has always been the same. this leaves me flabby. Can you please suggest some exercise for a better digestion.
Also, Joey, my mom is 5 ft but weighs 80kgs, which is too much for her. I am scraed she might soon be a host of many fatty diseases like sugar, diabetes. Can you please help me lose her weight? I would be really grateful.

    Joey,
please address the problems mature women face that are post menopausal and combating osteoporosis. What kind of food intake and specific exercises would you recommend. Women after menopause usually gain weight and it is difficult getting it back off and keeping it off.
Women like me, I am sure, would appreciate and advice and help they can get from you.

I am just beginning your lower body workout, but have bad knees so lunges and squats are sometimes painful. Am I still getting the benefit of the workout by just doing a partial squat or lunge?
  • ninsk
I am 39 and was in shape for most of my adult life. I got an injury to my arms 3 years ago and all of my "buff" has turned to flab. I do not eat a lot, but I get even less exercise. I cannot lift weights anymore, and knee pain limits my squat-type exercise ability. I do have a stationary recumbent bike, but it feels pretty hopeless. I am 5' tall and have managed to drop 12 pounds in the last month, but only by meal replacement shakes twice a day and eating my only meal at lunchtime. And to be honest with you, I don't know how much longer I can keep that up. I need effective bodyweight exercises that are not too hard on the joints as I am no spring chicken anymore, and can anyone help with ideas for those sweet tooth cravings? I don't honestly get them too often anymore, but boy are they damaging when I do. And just how many carbs can I have - I am a fan of potatoes....
  • ninsk
by the way, that 12 pound drop brought me down to 141 lbs.

I would love a free copy of your research! Feeling overwhelmed and desperate at this point. I've had 5 surgeries over the last 5 yrs. and has changed a very athletic, active body into a 50 lb. overweight, chronic pain, depressed, lifestyle changed frustrated human being. Now dealing with peri-menopause, and weight just seems to keep creeping on :-(. I've always carried weight from my waist down, but now have the classic "meno-pot" pooch that's additionally driving me crazy. Exercise is somewhat doable, but also painful, seem to need motivation. I know if I could drop some weight it would help knees, back, hips, etc. Too many options to chose from and believe me I've tried MANY over the years, but now feel overwhelmed with the weight loss industry. I know you will help, I have my faith in you!!! Anxious to hear what you have to help!!! ljam
  • Lennie
Whenever I decide I am really going to do it this time and start to "diet" I am suddenly hungrier than ever before and eating is always on my mind even before I actually start to diet.

Also, I'm 49 years old, 5 feet tall and weigh 115 pounds, so I'm not hugely overweight, but definitely need to tone up and loose some excess fat on my abdomen. I bought the ulbht and the ultimate upper body and although they are great exercises and I can see the difference very quickly, I lose momentum and end up quiting after a few days and then eventually when I get going again I have to start all over and it seems to be so hard to fit it in when I work 45 hours a week, and teach one evening a week and look after my aging mother. By the time the day is over I'm too tired to think about exercising and I have a hard time getting up in the morning with enough time to get ready for work let alone add exercise into it. I know it sounds like excuses, and obviously it is, but it is real too. I beat myself up over it and then I eat. I am divorced, don't date, have two twenty something children who spend a lot of time with me, and I enjoy their company, I really like them as people even if they weren't my kids, but somehow I have to make some changes and fit in time to exercise and stop eating because I am lonely or feeling sad.

I've said far more than intended.

Joey, I really think you have the very best routines and I am a fan, I just need a kick start.
  • Anna
I've battled weight all my life and spent the majority of my adulthood over 200 lbs. Over the course of the last two years have dropped over 100 lbs. My food issues were never about hunger but rather emotional eating and seeking comfort foods. Are you going to offer healthy versions of that such as say cheeseburgers, mashed potatoes, chocolate. Also have recently learned that my body does not produce enough seratonin which caused the depressions that plagued me over the years and contributed to my comfort food seeking. Are there foods or suppliments out there (aside from chocolate which only gives a small temporary boost) that can aid in the production of seratonin? I'm taking Zoloft for now but will have to go off it soon. Then will back to square one with the chemical imbalance in my body. I'm scared I'll go back to stress eating.
  • Heather
Number one - LOVE your emails. You have transformed the way I think about getting "serious" with my training without making it take over my life! Thank you thank you thank you!

I am feeling stronger, looking better ... but I have not modified my diet drastically because I have an inner fear that a drastic change will result in the yo-yo pattern I have followed in the past. I don't do well with restrictions - could go back to my problems with authority. Do you have something that I can ease into - something that doesn't take away everything all at once - so I can ease into a healthier lifestyle?

I am an intelligent person, I can follow the "plans" that reduce my fat intake for over 4-6 weeks .. but then I slip back into my old habits because I cannot live on salad and no-fat dressing alone in my life!

Anything you might have would be welcome. And keep the great emails coming - you are a true inspiration!
  • Lorraine
I find it easier to just make the usual sandwich for lunch and then eat two instead of one, also find it hard to eat a smaller amount at dinner time

I am just looking for a streamlined approach to getting my thighs and hips lean and my abs tight, which in turn would make my clothes look and feel better.
  • yogeshkpanchal
    Hi Joey,
I am been reading your emailer since a year, i have started with a search for getting 6 pac abs. My question to you is all we say is that you need to have selected types of food to loose weight & you restrict yourself to that, u loose wieght in meanwhile you also loose your charm, you look dull, can you guide me that what we should do to loose wieght & not loose your charm, that too without gym
  • joanne
hi joey, thank you for your email, but i dont know if you can help me with my fat loss, as i have a problem with salisylates, so there are many vegies and fruits i cannot eat,i am getting better, but fruit I mainly eat tinned, i drain off the juices of course. i can now eat manderines, and oranges if they are ripe, where as before i couldnt, i now can handle avacado, and mango.banana. vegies i am getting a bit better, I can now eat cucumber, one leaf of lettuce, old potato, sweat potato now if i have a small amount, At the moment i am trying an alkaline diet as my body has too much acid, my body often hurts because of this and gives me bad headace,s I have only just started the alkaline diet this morning so will be interested to see how i go with it, i would like to get my fat content down which this diet also promises, I dont eat any take away foods, or anything that comes out of a packet. I have 4.75 grms of fat to lose, i suppose some peaple would thing that isnt too bad, but it annoys me, i exercise when i can, but somethimes i hurt to much and i dont have any energy., once again the alkaline diet says this should change, I am still waiting for your dvd,s so hope they wont be too long in coming, looking forward to your comments, keep well joanne
  • shelly
I would like the free copy of the research you are currently work on -- the new way of thinking of weight loss goals. I really could use that.

Thank you for all of your work!!
  • Natasha
Yes I want a free copy of your research.
    Thanks very much.
I also thankyou for all the encouragement I have been getting. I still have not made a great effort at loosing the weight because at times I get so depressed when I see it has not drop much and then it goes up higher, tired of the roller coaster weight problem. Right now I am 193lbs the worse ever but I am so depress about it that I don't know where to start.
I desperately need help. I went from 124lbs to this weight now and when I gain weight it is normally 5 and 10lbs at a time. I have also been having gravings for sweet things for the past two months and have been yielding to it and that got me an extra 10 lbs. I did some blood test and every thing seem fine but my blood pressure keep going very low eg. 53/46. I really want to drop the excess weight I don't want to remain fat.
  • Joey, I am the 60 year old "rocker girl". My problem remains the same. My weight never varies. I am 100 - 102 lbs. 5'4". I can not, however, seem to get rid of belly fat. Now I can hold in my stomach but if my jeans are a little tight I do get the muffin top expecially when I sit down. My waist measures 25" and I can't seem to get it any smaller. Help! I'd like to get "tight" abs that I don't have to think consciously about holding in. Any suggestions?
  • Tess
    Hi Joey,
Thank you for all of your motivation.
I don't have a weight problem although I see that my weight getting slightly higher. I exercise 4-5times a week, doing weight training alternating it with cardio. My objective is to tone my upper body. I would like to have muscles on shoulders and arms. I've been trying for at least one year now but I don't see much result. I am vegetarian so maybe I need more protein? Any suggestions?
  • Candy Young
Hi I just have trouble keeping off those last 10 pounds. They come off every spring but come back on come summer or fall. Usually have trouble when I go on vacation. I also have a real sweet tooth. Candy are my downfall. I am 36 years old and have 3 kids-14,11 and 4. That little belly pooch really upsets me. Also my thighs are a big problem.
  • Marissa
HI Joey. Its not that I'm overweight, I know that for certain, it's just that I tend to crave a lot of junky foods, like chocolate or chips or things with a lot of sugar. I've been doing great with avoid that during the week because I have school and it's easier to be on a set schedule...but sometimes on the weekends I convince myself that I've been so good with eating healthy that I deserve a bit of a treat. Once that happens though, I go overboard and that small treat turns into a lot more than what it was intended. I've read in books and heard from people that food is about moderation and you can have treats once in a while, but when I do that I just go full blown crazy on the junk food. When I do go overboard I feel really grossed out with myself and I try to remember that feeling for next time so that it wont happen again. I also try to remember how great I feel when I eat healthy. But sometimes I just can't resist my cravings. Is there any way to stop this? Or should I just avoid junk food all together so that I won't be sucked into overeating junky foods?
I also have another question about exercise. If you eat too much one night and you don't exactly feel like working it off that night, will it turn into fat while you sleep? and is it possible to work off that food lets say the next morning? And one more, sorry, but is it bad to eat at night at all? I've read that you're suppsed to not eat after 6, but then wouldn't that interfere with your metabolism and slow it down? Because then you are going for several hours without food and that seems like a long time to me.
    Thanks for reading this :)
    Marissa.

    Hi Joey,

Hope I'm not too late to get on the list for your free report.
    Thanks!

Hi, Joey. I am a 57 yr old, 5'1" female. I've never been very active and always battled w/a few lbs here and there, but I became seriously overweight after having children. Several yrs ago, I had gastric bypass surgery as a last resort & lost over 150 lbs (which left me w/flabby upper arms, belly & thighs), but fully dressed I looked great and was ecstatic to fit into size 4 jeans. I bought your LHBT, abs & upper body dvds, but don't have the motivation to stick with them (partly because I suffer from arthritis in my knees and hands, which makes it a bit hard for me to get down on all fours, and partly because I'm so out of shape that the workouts leave me so sore for 2-3 days). About 1 1/2 yrs ago, I quit working and have become much less active. I have a terrible sweet tooth and tend to snack late at night - hence have gained back about 30 lbs. If you think your report can help me, please send me a copy. Thank you, Joey, for all your caring and support.

    Dear Joey
Thanks for your highly educating e-mails. I read your articles advises on eating in a healthy way. I am overweight and I have overcome eating between meals, but I have a big problem with calorie counting. Most of the african dish we eat have no worked out calorie values I just guess. Our staple foods are high in carbohydrate, so all those meals you talk about are not easily found in Africa where I live, I however do the Abs of Stone Core of Steel exercises. I bought the DVD's. They are indeed rewarding.
I really want to know how I can Keep to strictly low fat diet and never crave for high calorie foods without use of slimming drugs like appetite supressing drugs.
I want a copy of the article you talked about in your mail. Thanks
    Sola

My problem is that I only seem to loose weight on my upper body. It is frustrating....
  • emmarlm
Hi Joey! It would be really great if i could be one of the lucky ones who'll get a free copy. I'll really appreciate it. When I reached the age of 44 I found it hard to maintain my weight The exercises that I used to do seem to be not as effective as before. Moreso I could feel a decreasing enthusiasm to exercise regularly especially now that I frequently have allergy attacks and have to take antiasthma medication (for cough variant asthma only, no steroids though) before going to bed. I really would like to be free from all this. I'm 5'5" and I weigh 124 lbs right now. I have two kids. I have mild scoliosis. I eat brown rice, use brown sugar but i love dark chocolate. Has my metabolism gone slow? I really want to control my weight. I dont want to grow fat. I could slowly feel the bulges developing. We have a history of hypertension on my mother's side. I'm predisposed. I hope you could help me. Please.

Joey I crave carbs all the time. I try hard to balance them with protein, however, the carbs are consistently on my mind. I have a hard time loosing weight because of it. I am not able to work out that much because of family and work. I need to loose about 50 pounds. Any help would be appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Sandy

Joey,I am a 40 year old married woman of 2 children. My youngest child is 2 and will be 3 in January. I had a tough time losing the baby fat but I have accomplished this for about 1 year and a half. Recently I have been in a rut. You know how the holiday is but not so much with my eating. It has been hard for the past 2 weeks to exercise. I dont know if you have an actual solution for motivating me. I go through this every year and then by January of next year I try to take off the 5 to 10 pounds gained during the holiday. Eating right is only part of it. I know I must exercise. Do you have any suggestions?

    Hi Joey-
One of my problems is that since menopause I have been having increasing problems with the size of my stomach, which was never a problem before. Of course, the thighs have always been. I got down to 150 pounds about 4 years ago, after a divorce and buying a used treadmill, but it is slowing creeping back up, to about 170 now, and I am constantly fighting to get back or even stay even. I don't have the treadmill anymore, no room in new living situation, and I hate going outside in the cold, live in northern WI. So those are the problems I need addressed. Looking forward to seeing your new stuff. Thanks.

Joey my problem is every time I get motiated to diet and exercise, I either have some major drama happen in my life or I put my hip out. It gets very discouraging! I am a bail agent so I spend the majority of my time in my chair or on the phone. Twenty years of this has certainly made me FLABBY ALL OVER. Any suggestions to tone up without hurting my back/hip.

I'm female, 155cm tall and weigh 54Kg so not particularly overweight. I try to eat healthily with fresh fruit & vegs and very little processed foods. I don't workout as frequently as I would like. My problem that I would like some help with is that I find it difficult to find foods that actually 'fill' me with my hectic work schedule. I work very long hours shiftwork (12 - 13 hr shifts) plus about an hour travel time to work 3 - 4 days per week, plus try to fit some sleep in around that time, I find there is very little time or energy left to do any exercise.
I would be very interested to read your weight loss for the busy lifestyle.

Weight loss argh!! I hate the term yet I'm so obsessed with my weight it's unhealthy! I really need a program that helps me lose my weekend binge eating habits and promises to not make my legs fatter cos they are short and fat and I always hide them! If I didn't do the weekend binge thing I know I would be thinner. I'm a uni student and my course is very full-on and I get very stressed out and that doesn't help my eating so please help me sort myself out, I want to be fit so I can look back on life and say that at least one time I was physically fit and healthy...before time runs out and I get old!

    Hi Joey,

I hope you and Yours are having a very Happy Thanksgiving! I have a thyroid issue, (under investigation for two years with tests and the Specialist is still none the wiser... seems my thyroid is "overactive", but no weight loss , watching watching I eat, with exercise, is not making that much difference.) I am not, thank goodness, on medication. Also, there is the "post-pregnancy belly droop", which is now two years old. My overall body shape is good, I would love to get rid of the belly, though and tone up my thighs. I know I want your program, since, when those "smoke and mirrors", weightloss emails come flooding in - I don't even bother to open them - coupled with, laughing like a loon at the "next ridiciculous latest exercise gizmo" - in fact, I probably burn calories, just laughing so hard! LOL! : ) Yep - ready for a "no nonsense routine", methinks!

    Take care!!

    Hi Joey

What has frustrated me the most over the years is when I try to eat less because I'm dieting, I end up eating not enough and yet the "experts" tell me I'm probably eating more than I think. When in fact I have been decreasing my calories too much and lowering my metabolism. I have never been able to extablish with any certainty just how much to eat to keep a slow steady weight loss. I know it's either too much or too little but I'm never quite sure which. My body adjusts SO QUICKLY to whatever I do that I can't fool it into thinking I'm not dieting. It catches on after about 3 days! Very frustrating. If you can help me it would be a wonderful Christmas present! Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and yours! By the way, on Christmas 2 years ago, I had been really watching my weight (with no real luck) and the day after Christmas I actually lost 2 pounds and broken a 2 year plateau!

    Thanks again Joey

    Hello Joey,
Happy T-day! I am interested in your new report, please send when it is ready.

I have your UHLBT workout, I like it, I just do not use it as often as I should.
My issue is follow through, I am gung ho, then fade off after a while. Take a little time off, then get back to it. Of course, this does not leave me the physique I desire.

    Thank you for your assistance.
  • Yvette
I'm 44 years old and started to see weight gain in my late 30's. I do have a low thyroid which does not help. I find it hard to stick to a program or make time to exercise on a regular basis. I seem to find other things to do that need getting done but I don't time much time for myself. I do like sweets but I do try to eat health foods. I want to have a program where I can eat good foods that keep me full and I don't crave the sweets or carbs. Anything I can do?
  • Shelly
I've been doing your UBHT program for 8 weeks now and haven't seen much improvement (about 3 inches on waist & hips & 2 inches on thighs, which I am extremely excited about but I was expecting better results by now). I've followed the progression plan and do it 3 days a week as well as an hour on my treadmill 3 days a week and some ab exercises 3 days a week. I'm not extremely overweight, about 30 lbs, but I have big legs, thighs and hips. I followed your diet and lost nothing. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It's very frustrating. Can you offer me some tips on what else I can do or what I could be doing wrong?
  • Maharukh Ramakrishnan
Hi! First I must thank you for all the inputs you have been giving me in general. I work as a Manager in a Freehand style gym and I always get to learn something or the other from your mails. I am not a trainer by profession. Actually the only problem I have with weight is in my mid-section. Maybe due to a couple of operations in that area and also a sedentary lifestyle. I am 59 yrs old & my weight hovers around 54 kgs. My height is only 4'11". Any bright ideas as to how I can tone down my tummy??? I am fond of food in all varieties but do not overeat. Control!!! Any tip would be welcome.

    Joey,
anything that helps will be most fantastic. When you are like me and have over 200 pounds to lose, i am a sponge for information. It is going to be a long haul-i have lots of things on my mind. Your trainer for life mentality is one of my best friends. I feel like you are right there with me..thanks for all the help.

    Hi Joey ,
Thanks for all your articles and reminders to help me keep myself on track to achieve my goals. Yes , please do send me a copy of your soon-to-be-released 'unconvenrtional' method to keep me fit for life despite my busy schedule. Your recommended exercises , meals and lfestyles are good for me but my only issue is that I'm not able to clear my bowels daily and that worries me.

    Best regards ,

I am 40 yrs old, have 3 sons, and a husband with a very busy job. So time is always an issue.
I have your core programme already, and am a member of a local gym, where I do a body combat class, and core balance class, and I also do a cardio session on treadmill where I vary the gradient to give me some resistance. I'm currently a stone overweight, but have lost 1 stone 9lbs this year to date. Up until last December, I had suffered from chronic fatigue, and subsequently depression for about 2 years, during which I lost all my fitness and put on the weight (a lot less muscle and a lot more fat!). I also have an underactive thyroid which is stabilised by taking thyroxine tablets daily.

I'm very pleased with my progress, but would like to lose the last stone, and improve my core strength some more and lose the fat around my mid section (mainly on my tummy). I also LOVE running outside (I used to run with a club), so would like to mix my routine, combining strength with cardio, because at the minute I can only manage an 11 min mile.
The exercise also helps my depression which blesses my family loads!

Yes, I would like to receive "Losing Weight in a Busy Lifestyle". Since June 2009 I have lost 11kgs and would still like to lose another 4 or 5 kgs, and then keep it off. I lost all this weight eating in a healthy and balanced way and walking about 4 to 5 hours every week (including walking up and down stairs). I have also had a lot of support from an online group of women that have the same objective of losing weight.
    God bless,

My major worry, i hav gained 8 kilos weight and a lot of extra cms on the lower part of my body. pls help me and i am definitely interested in what u hav for me. thanks a ton.

Have hit menopause and the weight is creeping on. Things that used to work with weight maintenance don't work anymore. Plus husband has changed jobs and now works from home so that means 3 meals a day for him and I find it difficult to maintain my eating pattern which differs from his. Please help. Thanx
  • Ann
    Hi Joey,
My biggest problem is having my family at home. My husband has changed jobs and now works from home so is around for 3 meals a day. We also have our son and partner living with us at the moment and the y just eat totally different foods to us and quantities being so much younger. I just feind it difficult to stick to what I know is good and reasonable quantities whilst catering for these other 3. Iam really good at excercise but we have also moved country and am now living a far more sedentary lifestyle. Very frustrating!

I used to be extremely athletic as a child, teenager and young adult. But somewhere in my 30's I seemed to have settled into a certain lifestyle/pattern in which sports would occasionally be part of my routine but not always... It depended on the money as it usually costs something. After having kids it went to the background. I notice that my drive has gone and specifically there are certain periods when I don't feel motivated to do anything. I still respect and listen to my body but I slowly gained weight and it seems impossible to work it off without going on a rigorous or disciplined exercise program or a diet. I can't seem to do either. How can I mentally get back into shape to enjoy sports and are there any tell tale signs that show you're on the right / back on the wrong path? I believe I should be able to get the exercise I need by doing what I need to do (using the bike instead of the car, taking the stairs instead of the elevator... ) but it should be fun and enjoyable not counting how many calories I eat per day or how much I burn.
Last year I was back on track for a while and did Tai Chi for about 6 months. Then I seemed to have hit rock bottom and burned out mentally. Was disappointed and now the pleasure has gone out of it. I've had this before with tennis which I used to play quite often... then I went through a dip. I had a tennis elbow and ever since then (about 16 years) I haven't been able to play. I think I'm doing something wrong or expecting something that isn't realistic but I don't know what it is.
    I wouldn't say I'm really overweight but I know I weigh more than I should. (5-10 kilos)
How can I get back into shape and feel better about myself?

HI Joey ........... Can you help? What can you do about fat knees? Fat is an under statement they look like they have three chins & are seriously heading south! What are the best exercises to target this area?????

Big thanks ...please keep the motivational emails coming X
  • crimson89
I also have this problem...the best results I have had yet were achieved with the ulbhtm+jogging 30-40 mins 2-3x week, I noticed some serious improvement in my knee area, but I guess I didn't do the whole thing long enough. You have to be consistent...

The biggest problem for me and my husband is food. Here in tiny Singapore, there is no lack of delicious food (and we are talking about every variety imaginable!). There are 24-hour eateries serving local favourites and one can just drive to any of these to get a quick bite even at ungodly hours. Living in this kind of environment, my husband is used to eating as and when the desire arises and has a very Asian palate. The problem with most of the reducing diets is that they are generally written by Westerners whose diets are predominantly western. While we don't mind eating western sometimes, we still need our dose of Asian fare (think Hainanese chicken rice ;-) ) every now and then. Therefore, when both of us go on a typical western reducing diet, we would be good for 2~3 weeks and then cave in to cravings for Asian food...big-time! Once we blew it, we would just let ourselves go completely and whatever little weight we lost would be regained in no time.

Even with increased activity, the effect of the yo-yo dieting makes it hard to lose the last few stubborn pounds. We need an eating plan which would help us lose the weight while generally eating healthy, and at the same time still allowing us the occasional cheat meals of Asian food (at least once or twice weekly would be very nice). How do we put such a plan together?
  • sahni
I manage to drop 5 kg easily, but the moment I stop watching my diet intake, I quickly gain 7 kg within a few days...hope your book will help me break this cycle

    Hi Joey,

Your video keeps staring at me from the shelf but for some reason i just can't get myself to "just do it". I watched the whole thing from beginning to end and loved it. I am having problems with will power like crazy. 6 years ago i went raw for 3 years straight. I went cold turkey to 100% over night. Lost 25 lbs in 1 1/2 months. Felt fantastic, like floating above ground. 3 months later i lost an additional 20 lbs and kept on it for 3 years. Then came the cruise to Mexico and i sorta started to eat stuff that i hadn't for years and sorta started gaining my weight back : ( I used to excercise by going to the park everyday and walking for 1/2 hour. Then I lost my job in that location but got another one 3 days later but in the city (bad part-unsafe) and my walking gut cut out. My work is the best i have ever had in my life but I have gained 50 lbs because I sit all day long for many hours (usually 10 per day + 2 hours on the road). Also I bring work home. When I get home all i want is some comfort food and go straight to bed. I sleep well but it is very difficult to get up in the morning. I know that i can "easily" loose alot of weight very fast. I know how, but for some reason I just can't get myself to do what I did before. I am 5' 10" tall and now I weigh 205. Biggest problem is everything goes into my thighs and ass. my thighs are always 1 or 2 sizes bigger than by butt so all jeans are always way too big in the waist. On top of it all I used to be a house model for at the time, the largest swimsuit company. Even then my legs were always bigger at least 1 size than my ass. Everyone tells me " you look fine because you're tall". My response to them is usually that models are also tall and some much taller but I haven't noticed any of them weighing anywhere near 200 lbs. Anyways, I'm rambling but got no one with insights around me except you. I hope to hear something "that will kick my a-s" into motion cause I got to get into the fabulous body conscious clothing we design at my dream job. It sucks that I have to look at that stuff every day but only dream about wearing it.

    Thanks in advance
    Joanna

PS. Sometimes the designer gets me to model the size large for her. JUST GREAT!!! But I wanna fit into the small ( this is where I throw a temper tantrum and stomp my feet) : )

How to get & keep off abdominal fat even when you are not overweight (I'm 125 lbs at 5'8") & I eat healthfully (lots of fruits & veggies, meat & minimal starch) & excercise vigorously at least 4 times a week. I'm 55 & it may be hormonal due to the change, as I also suffer from insomnia. But if you have any thoughts or suggestions on this issue they are most welcome. TY for all the wonderful information & things you share. It is a big blessing.

Fat loss for me seems so far away for me I weigh 205 ibs , which puts me in the "Obese" category. I have tried a number of programmes sold over the internet, to no avail. I weould really appreciate it if you could help me out.
  • Susanne Seymore
Joey, I think my biggest problem is lack of motivation and many plausible excuses! In a very big family, there are many, many reasons to celebrate, and all celebrations are coupled with food. I love to excercise but I also love to eat. At almost sixty, I have developed a thickening around my body, not so much my waist but between the bust and belly button. I have eight sisters, and though I am the only one who regularly goes to gym and even follow your program, we all look the same. Is there anything I can do about that?
  • july18
hi joey, i am 19, and have never been able to lose the weight i gained through excessive eating of sweets when i was 15. i tried running, eat healthy, but have only been gaining weight ever since. the most stubborn fat is at the arm, tummy and inner thigh. and although i have been try to eat healthy, i find it very easy to gain weight the moment i eat a bit more. i also find myself gaining a lot of flab the moment i stopped exercising.

another thing is that healthy food makes me more hungry, is there anything i could do about it?
  • july18
oh yes i forgot to add, i also have trouble differentiating healthy food from not. and im also trying to be vegetarian, and i am lactose intolerant. recently i think im suffering from IBS. is this making me gain fat?

im not very fat, am in a healthy weight range, but just not the size i hope i would be in. i just want to tone up and lose the flab!

    Hi Joey
I have a question of how much protein should I be eating. It seems everything I read says lots of protein. For the most part I force it down but I really hate eating meat. The other one is how much fat? I know that good fat is o.k. but how much is o.k. I need to loose about 30 lbs. and I just can't get rid of the first 10 lbs let alone the 30lbs. I have no problem with exercise but I've never been able to loose weight by just exercising so I know I need a tight diet.

What kind of foods can you eat to satisfy those sugar cravings, that aren't too bad for you? I find I can't go very long without eating, so what kind of snacks can you eat on a regular basis that DON'T take ages to prepare? Thanks Joey!

Dear Joey,I ordered your lbht video and really liked the exercises. I am 48 years old and 5 ft. 4 in. and have lost down to 131. It took a while and I am actually losing very little weight. I eat clean at least 98% of the time. I do hi-intensity short exercises 6 days a week for cardio and resistance body weight and dumbells 3x a week. I eat about 1500 caories a day. Is this too much exercise or too few calories? I am really interested to read your free report. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving. May the Lord be praised!

    Hi, Joey,

Thanks for a GREAT workout video set (butt hips thighs). I really feel it (stronger and tighter) in all the right places

I am 56 and my question has to do with skin elasticity. When I lose weight, my face and body don't necessarily look a lot better because my skin has more of a tendency to sag and wrinkle than it used to. Any good ideas?

How do you manage to eat when time is limited (I'm a visiting nurse on a very tight schedule some days) and need to eat gluten free? (eliminates sandwiches to pack which is simplest!) I have a real problem with this!!

I spend 16 hours of each day sat in front of a computer & consequently have cellulite on cellulite and need to lose 8kgs. I have recently started using your LBHT workout (which I've had for 2 years!!) but motivation for me, plus the added obstacle of disc protrusion between 3rd, 4th & 5th lumbar makes it difficult to maintain this on a regular basis.
I look forward to receiving your "unconventional" methods for losing weight.

    Hi Joey,
By last April at age 45 I had lost 20kg and I weighed 52kg (height 159cm). I struggle every day to keep the weight off and now its slowly creeping back on. I fluctuate now between 58-60kg. I find if I do cardio I want to eat everything in sight. If I do too much in weights then my muscles bulk up. Food has become my enemy, exercise has become my enemy and I am now completely out of control with my eating - binge, strict, etc. I am letting my fear of becoming fat again be my reality as I can't find a balance that suits my body. I was always a chubby baby and overweight teenager/adult my body and my mind had never seen me as a slim petite person (was probably 11 years old when I last weighed 52g). I'm really looking forward to your report. thanks

Since I get up early to be at work by 7am, I am having trouble finding quick healthy snacks for work. I usually don't have time to eat breakfast and when 10 am comes around, I am famished and will eat cookies and candy bars to keep me going until lunch at about noon.
I need some exercises for building bones due to osteoporisis and upper body exercises to increase my lung indurance. Any help about these problems would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours and have very Merry Christmas too.

Hi Joey!! I'm pretty excited to get a free copy of what you're working so hard on!! My frustrations come with eating......I get sooooo confused about what's bad & good. It seems everything is bad....too many carbs, too much sodium, too much fat and it makes me feel like there is not much left out there to eat! Another frustration is that I always seem to get hunger pains & then I give in & eat badly......it's so frustrating!! I feel like the exercise I do is a waste because I ruin all my effort with the way I eat b/c I get confused with all the information I have about eating. I'm not overweight. I just have the problem area of "saddlebags" and some excess fat around the buttocks!! That really bugs me and I'd love to get healthy, lose some fat & look toned. Thanks Joey and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Hi, Joey. My biggest problem at the moment is losing weight. During mid-2005 to mid-2006, I lost the 90 pounds I had been carrying around for the last 20 years since the birth of my first child. This took a lot of work, following a strict diet and exercise plan. From mid-2006, I slowly gained the weight back, yo-yo-ing up and down until I gained back almost 30 pounds of the 90 I had lost. Using my yearly trip to Jamaica as motivation, I've managed to lose 20 of the 30 pounds since May of this year. My biggest obstacle is weekends. During the week, I can easily go back to my tried and true eating program (no added salt, sugar, or fat - no wheat or processed foods) but the weekends are hard. My husband, who is a runner, does not have to watch what he eats and we eat take-out 2 or 3 times over a weekend. By Friday, I'm sick of my boring food and want something else, even though I normally don't eat more than a turkey grinder. No pepperoni pizza or anything like that. Also, I'm struggling with cardio as I've found that the only exercise that enables me to lose weight now is running, which I totally despise. I lost my 90 pounds with nothing more than walking 3 - 5 miles per day, but it's just not cutting it now. Sorry for rambling so long. I own three of Joey's programs (LBTH, core, and upper body). Love them all but not doing them at this time due to time restraints between cardio and work (have to choose the biggest bang for the buck right before vacation/audit season). Looking for something new and exciting to shake things up. Thanks
  • cyeo
I have lost close to 20 kg over 8 months through proper diet and exercise (worked with a personal trainer in a gym), and have a last 5 kg to go, but this last 5 kg is so difficult to lose. I am already struggling to maintain my weight as I seem to put on a few kgs the moment I eat a bit more. I am currently maintaining my 3 x a week (1.5 hours) of exercise (1 hour resistance trg + 30 mins cardio) and would like to know how to effectively manage my weight issues.
  • juliemilham
I just can't seemed to commit myself for longer that a couple of days. I have been cut back at my full time job to 2 days a week, there should not be a reason for me to do this. The eating healthy and wholesome meals is tough for me. I know what I like and what is good for the family but i do not make it available when i am hungry.

    Hi Joey,

I am not a fat person but i really would really like to achieve a lean ( and not flabby) body. I'm 5'4" and right now about 124lbs. My problem is i'm just too busy to do a long workout so i kinda slacked off on doing your exercises as they take time to finish. I need shorter more effective workouts that don't have to be done daily. My diet problem is i have these cravings for chocolate and ice cream from time to time (being a woman) and would like to learn how to moderate these cravings. Can you suggest effective solutions? Thanks a lot! - Maria

    Hi Joey

I am recovering from cancer. I have had 3 operations this year alone and am finally in remission. I would like to see a simple healthy easy to follow diet and exercise plan that anyone could incorprate into their lives. There are so many diets and exercise books (not to mention pills and potions) on the market today that it is just downright confusing. It's hard to know who to trust.

    Regards

I'm gathering information of the affects of too much salt in the diet and having the affects of too much simple sugars. Yes, I'm a little confused and upset about all of the salt and sugar added to our food. One causes mood swingsand diabetes (sugar) and the other (salt) causes bloat. I tried cutting back on sugar, but a little while later I REALLY want my sweets, and then I stop exercising when I do. What do I do about this predicament?

I have never been good in the past on portion control. But I do try to listen to my body and sense when it's not hungry /full. I did just find out about the Okinawa Principle of eating only till you're 80% full (what the Japanese do). So, what are you're takes on portion control? Also, what can I use in place of sugar to bake? How bad/good is splenda? I've heard people talk about brown rice syrup, honey (I've used this to hold the flavor of spices on the chicken)
I'm at the moment about 60lbs overweight. My energy went even more after being Hyperemetic while pregnant with my son. The doctors wanted me to gain 45lbs by the time I was 6 months and I was always very petite. I had a reaction to the epidural which caused edema (I had 3 epidurals by the way); the next day I swore up like I was 9 months pregnant again. I was told by nurse and doctor that I had lost alot of nutrients. But I tried a few different supplements and nothing seemed to help. I didn't make time for myself while raising my son alone.
But that's changed recently. Making time for me is more of a priority because if I don't fill myself up first then I can't fill up anyone else either. I have focused more on getting aligned with God (so seeking to grow deeper in my spiritual life); this also means not focusing on Neg thoughts (but realize when a neg thought comes up it can be a place/area in my life that needs healing/to be healed. I focus on what/who I want in my life and be thankful for where I am now. I've been lead to mentors/coaches who are teaching me how to start and have a successful business and personal life. I'm changing more food habits: looking to replace white flour (refined flour ) with wheat flour and oat flour (I haven't found this sold in my town yet). Does anyone sell millet flour, or something that tastes better than wheat and good for baking deserts sometimes? I also don't eat white bread much(need to find replacement for refined hamburger buns. I have been walking the track that's close to our apartment complex. I have to get a new dvd player so I can finish doing your fitness dvd and my tai chi dvd. But housework, dancing and playing with my son is good exercise. This is definitely a process but I'm going to be in even better health mind, body and spirit than before.

P.S. Looking to get nutri-health's flora source Multi-strand probiotics for me and my son Antonio because what was in my blood stream while pregnant went into his. When my body is full of toxins I can tell and I need something to help flush them out consistently. Also looking to buy high quality supplements like After Baby Boost™ System (it's a postpartum nutrition system) (. Most Multivitamins sell calcium and iron together but they cancel each other out (ex: prenatals, this is so sad. Docs don't really test this stuff before they give it to us..

    Hi Joey
I would really appreciate a simple, straight forward plan for a healthy lifestyle. How much and what should I really eat and what exercises do I really need. I know it is all about balance and I do read a lot about health and fitness, but the more I read, the more confused I get. I am 46 years of age, weighing 58 kg and I'm 162 cm tall. I do go to the gym and I am reasonably fit. I guess I am tired of trying so hard and thinking about diet and exercise without a real plan. I want the best out of life and look after myself. I had breast cancer and struggled with low self esteem - I would like to stay clear from those paths and do all I can to live a normal, happy, healthy and full life! Could you send me your report, please?
    Thanks a lot,
    Rina

I am 26 years old and I am overweight. I have been researching ways to eat better and lose some weight for close to a year now. I have done all sorts of diets and haven't really gotten anywhere. Recently I have lost about 20 pounds and still in the process to lose some more. I am always interested to learn new things and I would greatly appreciate any new information. I can't wait to see what new "unconventional" things you are introducing to us. What are the best food to eat to help reduce belly fat

    Hi Joey,
i guess what both my husband and I struggle with is portion size, we know the rules, but as time goes by, we seem to slip slowly back to a bit bigger.. We have been using the 7 day blowtorch diet and he lost 5 kilos in 3 weeks, without any exercise, I lost 3kgs while doing (poorly) a mini version of your LHTB workout. I get a little disheartened that he can effortlessly loose weight while I added exercise and still struggled. But I am not jumping off the band wagon. We both agree to be a bit more supportive and I recognise... well, he admitted to all the extras he has previously sneaking outside the home would have contributed to his more dramatic weightloss. So onward and forwards for us both. We are both 6 ft, he weighs 100 kgs, I am 85, but with the holidays approaching ( we dont have thanksgiving in Aus. so we can avoid the first temptation) we are ready for a bit more committment and a realistic eating /exercise style to fit in with our 2 kids - 16 yr old super fit son and our 7 yr old daughter while still working and luckily for us, its summer so our days off can still include some otside activities. Thank you for your continued afforts, I pass your name along to anyone I know, hopefully they can see the great value your generously give. I, no , we look forward to your continued support with this new project in our busy lifestyles.
    Kindest regards, Tracey.xx

    Tracey - you wrote "I am 85" - was that a typo?????

Joey (oops - I just noticed you meant 'kgs' and not years...LOL...)

Hi I have been told taking 2-4 fish oil tablets with each meal will compensate for lack of carbs by keeping my energy levels up when on a high protien diet, Is this true?

    Hi Joey
is there certain foods that help in weight loss and when should we eat meals before or after exercise like most men want to loose there belly fat and women on there butts
  • Brenna
As alot of others have done, I have tried most of the :fad" diets out there. I lose a few lbs (not enough to write home about though) then I get bored with it and the weight slowly creeps back on. I know that I need to exercise more, this has helped me greatly in the past but I just dont have alot of time to devout to it anymore and I really don't feel motivated. I think I am when I frown into the mirror but then I just don't do anything. I really need to get going on something. I am very intersted in your new ideas.

HELP!? I am 33 years old, 5'5 and I weigh 205 pounds. I have always struggled with weight.

During my 20's I forced myself to follow any and every work out suggestion I came in contact with. Trainer, spinning, cardio, weight training, kick boxing, Yoga, ... I tried almost everything but never really got the results that I wanted and I had difficulty getting below 160 pounds and usually maintained at 175.
I am currently enrolled in law school (3rd year yeah almost done) and in this time I was also diagnosed with a thyroid condition. As result of school schedule cutting out the 2 hours a day I used to spend in the gym and the lack of energy and poor health caused by the thyroid I blew up to my current weight. I understand my thyroid plays some role in my propensity to gain weight, and the difficulty I have loosing. I also understand that 200 pounds is unhealthy and something needs to be done.
By working with my doctor and taking medication I have been able to get my thyroid levels pretty close to normal.

What I need is help on how to approach getting in shape. I don't want to be condemned to being a fat. I want to do something, but I feel overwhelmed, not knowing what to do, where to start, and afraid to fail again.

Can you help? Have suggestions? I desperately want to change.

    Sincerely,

    Kemba

I have a similar problem with my thyroid getting back to normal but it feels like no matter what I do I gain weight even though I work out and eat pretty healthy. I need to know if there is something else that I'm missing.

I would like to know more about exercise that helps to increase metabolic rate, in order to counterbalance the effects of my low functioning thyroid.

How much is too much 'cheating' on the road, on the weekends, at Holiday time before you are facing a huge set back? It seems that as soon as I 'take a bit of that pie or cheesecake' that I am in for a few days of really having to 'hit it'. If I am good most of the time; why should a small set back like that have such a huge impact?

how much protien is truly required for fat loss. My main sure of protien is raw almonds....I eat 150 grams per day which gives me approx. 33 grams of protien. I get the rest of my proitne from raw vegetables and salad. will this allow me to lose fat or will I it cause me to lose muscle.
  • kjude
I'm really just putting more input because your question prompted one of mine I forgot...that's a good question...how much protein do you need to continue to build muscle when you are on a sugar free/pasta free/not much meat/free diet? Lots of veggies; but not a lot of meat? I need to know that too! I feel like I lose muscle quickly unless I spend an hour on the stair stepper! (and I know better now)
  • joanne
hi kjude, in answer to your question about protein, i am 5ft.91/2 inches tall and weigh 76 kilos. I was 87 kilos i went on a diet of 33 oz of protein at each meal, of 5 times a day, with lots of free vegies,[low carb] but no pasta, bread ,oil, milk egg whits only. no nuts of any kind..although this was great for losing weight.I could not keep any muscle on i would gain then lose ,thats how it kept going for years, i thought it was me doing something wrong, well i was, it like joey tells you there are peaple out there who dont give you the whole story. I only found out since doing joeys work out and going on the blow torch diet, that you have to have your low carbs, and you must have your oil [virgin olive oil ]and mixed nuts to provide food for your muscles, for the first time in years [ i finely am keeping my muscle,] i was watering my trees in my horse padock over a period of weeks, i notice my right shoulder had developed more muscle then my left, i mentioned this to my husband and said i will have to carry the bucket with my left arm a bit more other wise i will be lopped sided. his comment [ no go buy a hose i dont wont a muscle built women in this house thank you. poor thing doesnt realise that us women cant be muscle bound like the men, just nicely toned. ha ha.
