If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
A little ways back, in a previous e-newsletter I mentioned the creamy protein ice-cream I was testing out, and a lot of subscribers have been emailing to find out more about it…
So – here is a photo of me kissing my chocolate FitFreeze Ice-Cream today, on Valentine’s Day

Click Joey's Nose to Get FREE FitFreeze
I just ordered another 1-month supply (it comes in dreamy vanilla too!) and I asked if there was a way to get a FREE sample page for all my subscribers to try it out. And here is the page: FREE FitFreeze Sample for Joey Atlas Subscribers In: USA, AUS, CAN, UK
Right now it’s only available to ship to the 4 countries listed and they are VERY busy getting these samples out today!
Here are just a few reasons why I LOVE this “fitness ice-cream”
1 – No Guilt: you can eat this every night knowing you are not screwing up your fitness and nutrition efforts (yes – very sneaky but very sweet!)
2 – Naturally Sweetened: Stevia is the, zero-calorie, herbal sweetener used in the recipe to tame your sweet tooth. This means no metabolism wrecking chemical sweeteners are needed (LOVE that!)
3: Fiber Enhanced: Getting enough fiber in our diets today is always a challenge but FitFreeze has a nice dose from flaxseed powder.
4: Protein Fortified: 15 grams of body toning, muscle-strengthening protein in each serving. Combined with the fiber content this works wonders in killing cravings and wiping out hunger pains. Priceless.
If you live in the USA, AUS, CAN or UK – I would give the FREE sample offer a try now as I don’t know how much longer they will run this special for us.
And if not – just let me know what you think of the sweet Valentine’s Day kiss I’m laying on the container of FitFreeze

OK – so, after the first post about Kelly it quickly became obvious to her and I that we need to share more of what people are not seeing right now.
We exchanged a few emails in the last few days and here is where we left off…
These are Kelly’s words:
“Joey, I also saw some of their comments. So… I figured I should tell them my backstory to help them get a little clarity.
Things I’ll cover: (voicing out here so I don’t forget later)
- This is Asia (I’ll post links to shops to help them see what I’m up against)
- My work and why I need to be slimmer even if I’m deemed of a healthy weight ratio (I have pics of me working and looking not so fab – I can share)
- The issue of cellulite
- How keeping fit isn’t just a problem for very large people, but for medium sized people too
- Also, I’m young, but when I see people who are 30’s and in better shape, I realise it’s not just something you’re born with. You have to work for it.
- I will also release my weight, body fat % and whatever other stats I can find
Also, I will take pics of me in a bikini for future use and I’ll see what I can do about a video of how I look too. We have to convince these guys that there are many flaws to be fixed and with you, I can fix them.”
Kelly and I have a skype/coaching call set up for 10pm EST tonight (it will be 10am Tuesday her time/Singapore)
The goal for tonight’s call is to focus on the issue of her cellulite zones and create her weekly schedule of exercise sessions for:
“Phase 1” of Kelly’s Body Reclamation
Stay tuned for the info she plans to share listed above – and for now – here is her latest post:
Not As Bad As I Thought (1st Lower-Body Workout)
Now onto a case study with her own set of challenges. I need to emphasize – just like with Kelly, the open sharing of details in this case study is VERY personal – and it’s rare that I get the opportunity to share these types of step by step true-to-life examples…
So I extend a HUGE THANK YOU to both Kelly and Leanne…
Some of you know Leanne already, as she has designed a bunch of my websites/blogs, including this one – the Official Joey Atlas Blog. Yep – she’s good and you can see more of her AWESOME work here: http://intricateart.com/
She has already taken the painful “Before” photos and measurements. When the time is right we will be sharing these with you. For now you can read about her challenges, obstacles and how we are chipping away at each of them to get her closer and closer to her most desired goals.
“Phase 1” of Leanne’s Body Reclamation
And you can see Leanne’s 5-Day personal fitness and fat-loss journal right here. That’s her first official post since getting started last week.
Watch this space and the blogs plus facebook pages of Kelly and Leanne to see the step by step actions, thoughts, strategies and successes they are openly sharing with you and the rest of the world in the hopes of inspiring and motivating others to do the exact same things.
And listen, don’t be shy – if you have some questions, thoughts or input – you can use the comment section below.

No intro needed on this… So, here you go…
1 – Add ‘stealth’ spices/herbs to dishes you have never ‘spiced up’ before.
For example:
A – add cumin to a scrambled egg
B – add paprika to sauteed green peas
C – add crushed red chili pepper to mashed cauliflower
D – and if you’ve never tried sea-salt and black pepper – then you should start with those
)
2 – Fine-tune your healthy fat intake:
Quite often I’ll find that someone is going far too low in their dietary fat intake in efforts of keeping calories down. This is not good as we need a certain amount of healthy fats to allow our bodies to function and develop properly. This can prevent some key physiological processes from taking place and can stall the body’s natural desire to burn and release excess body-fat.
On the other extreme – I’ve coached some people who are unaware of the “too high” amount of healthy fats they are consuming daily. It’s important to note – one tablespoon of a healthy oil; take extra virgin olive oil as an example – contains 120 calories…
======>>>>> 1 tablespoon = 120 calories <<<<<======
That’s a lot, but still NECESSARY in proper amounts - so be a bit mindful when putting your meals together. You want to be sure you don’t get careless or carried away with the volume on those fats. As it can be very easy if you’re not paying attention to your measurements...
Eventually this becomes second nature
3 – Use creative BUT healthy and nutrient packed “secret” recipes – like this one:
Body Rockin’ Bean-Cakes (some call these Bean ‘Burgers’… STAY TUNED, as I’ll be shooting a video for this recipe soon..)
These can be eaten as your main course (loaded with protein and fiber) as part of a dinner. Or you can eat for lunch wrapped in hearty lettuce, such as romaine, green-leaf, etc…
½ can black beans (drained) – mash beans in bowl, with a fork
Add in:
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- a few shakes of paprika
- a few shakes of cumin
- a few shakes of black pepper
- a few shakes of dried parsley
Mix it all up. Divide into 2 or 3 and shape into mini-cakes with (clean) hands, or with fork.
Place in heated pan coated with butter or coconut oil. Sprinkle a little sea-salt while bottom side cooks.
When bottom starts to get brown – use spatula to flip & cook other side. A few minutes each side is all this takes.
Place on plate – let ‘em cool a bit – then ENJOY.
You can add a sprinkle of parmesian cheese – or a tablespoon of your favorite marinara sauce.
And who says eating properly is boring or bland???!!!!

Sometimes my e-newsletters and updates don’t make it into your email inbox – So, I usually post them on one of my blogs… Here is a recent one you may have missed:
1) The FUSION-bomb Co-Ed Total-Body Fitness website is almost done. You’ll want to stay tuned for the official ‘grand opening’ as I have 4 FREEBIE workout videos for you and anyone else you want to share them with.
Once the site is ‘live’ – you’ll get Instant Access to four 10-minute workout videos – and all I ask in return is that you share them with anyone else you know who can use them to improve their health and fitness. And there’ll be much more on that website for you too – but I can’t reveal everything right now…
2) TV Makes You Fat? – TV is big business, period. Unfortunately it rules many peoples lives and I’ll even say it ruins peoples lives. And I’ll even go a step further and say “Yes, it can and does make some people fat.”
I don’t have TV in my home. I have no need for it. There are so many other things for me/us to do, etc… I will be writing MUCH MORE about this topic in a future article – because of how strongly I feel it can make a difference in your life. Stay tuned for that one. You’ll be VERY glad you did.
In the meantime here is an article on the same subject – but written from a slightly different perspective than mine. Not wrong by any means – just different, but still VERY good.
http://tinyurl.com/TVmakesYouFat
3) ‘Sexy’ new stuff is in the works and on the way… As you know there are always things going on behind the scenes here in ‘AtlasVille’ – and now is no different. My path has led me to some interesting meetings… Despite common logic, 1 + 1 isn’t always 2. There are times when the combination yields something much greater – much more meaningful and helpful to those who need it and want it. I can’t reveal much more at this point – except to say something special and ‘sexy’ is on the works – and you’ll want to be tuned in when it’s ‘ready’
Until the next e-Newsletter…

I’ll introduce this post with brevity and a lack of ‘setting the scene’. Reason being – the story will reveal all we need to know, by it’s very nature…
Here’s an email that came in just a few hours ago – in reply to one of my thought provoking email newsletters:

Subject: RE: Secrets of a Trainer: Siarra, don’t let this happen to you,
ever…

Hello Joey,
Thank you for drafting and sending these amazing email newsletters. The insight and real life stories are valuable and I really look forward to receiving your emails!
On this topic of personal trainers…
A work colleague and I started our weight loss mission at the same time. I started your lower body program whilst she joined the gym and got herself a personal trainer. I have to admit; at the time I was a bit jealous and was convinced her results would be much better and faster than mine.
Since we started at the same time, we are always discussing and comparing our results. I have visibly lost weight and inches off by waist, butt and thighs. Whereas, my colleague hasn’t lost any weight and is looking bigger, wider and more muscular.
She is totally miserable with her results so far and I am totally ecstatic with my result so I asked her to ditch the gym and her trainer to start your program.
You would think the choice was an easy one to make but she simply refuses to accept that i have gotten better results with paying a fraction of the costs she paying (she’s paying monthly gym membership fees PLUS $40 per hour with the personal trainer).
This has led to a lot of discussion around whether my program is better than going to the gym with a personal trainer. I am unclear and confused by some things she and her trainer have brought up because my knowledge in exercise is really poor so I thought who better to ask than Joey?
Can you give me your feedback on the 5 points she and her personal trainer made, below:
I look forward to your response.
Regards,
**Siarra K
1 – “All the celebrities go to the gym and have personal trainers…”
>> Joey’s Reply:
A – That’s an exaggeration. Not every celebrity goes to the gym – and not every celebrity has a personal trainer. Some celebrities could even show the average trainer a thing or two.
B – Even if that was true – SO WHAT! It doesn’t “prove” anything. Celebrities are “regular people” but many of them have the money to spend on trainers, all year round. This DOES NOT prove the theory which implies simply having a personal trainer is better than not having one. (Results are what counts.)
2 – “Women simply cannot get big and muscular with weights because we don’t have the same hormones as men. Initially she may be bulking up but those muscles will help her lose fat/weight and in the longer term she will lose more weight than me.”
>> Joey’s Reply:
LOL – Oh yes they can! This happens QUITE OFTEN. It has nothing to do with hormones. This is about ‘relativity’. A woman doesn’t have to bulk up like a man would in order to feel “she has bulked up”. All she needs to experience is what your friend is going through to realize IT DOES HAPPEN. The common rhetorical excuse is the hormone thing you mention above. Trainers love to use that one. But they can only get away with it for so long. Eventually the female client has enough of the “waiting” for the right things to happen – and decides to part ways and find another solution for her personal fitness needs.
3 – “By doing the same repetitive exercises, my body will stop responding and I will stop losing weight.”
>> Joey’s Reply:
Ah! Another “gym/trainer myth”. See, this excuse/myth IS PERFECT for the typical ‘weights and machines’ approach to fitness training. It’s used as a ‘smoke & mirrors’ tool to keep clients clinging to hope and thinking they need to keep having a trainer guide them, to change, vary and “mix up the program” – all in efforts of keeping the body guessing, blah, blah, blah… NONSENSE!!
When you do the right exercises as part of the well-designed program – YOUR BODY DOES NOT STOP RESPONDING – even if all, or most, of the exercises/program is “the same”.
4 – “The gym is a good way to exercise the heart and get the blood pumping around the body.”
>> Joey’s Reply:
So is making love for an hour!! COME ON NOW! – there are plenty of ways to get a great cardio workout – “the gym” is only one option on a list of many. (jumping rope, step-up & downs, cardio-fusion, making love, etc…)
5 – “The only way to lose the post-baby protruding tummy is to have a surgical tummy tuck and no amount of exercise will help.”
>> Joey’s Reply:
First of all – That is PURE Bu11$#!T. Sure it’s easier and has a high (short term) success rate for that specific area. BUT, there are women who’ve gotten rid of the post-pregnancy tummy bulge WITHOUT a tummy tuck. And they do it with a PROPER SYNERGY of exercise and simplified nutrition.
My replies are not intended to denounce traditional personal trainers and/or the conventional practice of personal training. But simply to shed light on the dynamics of (mis)communication, interaction, trust, marketing and understanding – as it applies to the profession of personal training and most importantly, it’s consequences on clients and potential clients.
There are MANY great trainers on the open market – BUT this does not make all trainers great – or even competent.
The tale of two approaches above, as outlined by Siarra, is great a example of firsthand experience – one which defies common logic. But does so with no “he said, she said” or “I heard about this through my friends cousin…”.
Better yet – we can consider it an un-official experiment. One that is bucking conventional wisdom, as we speak…
Siarra’s friend is now in the position to make a decision about her investment in the trainer, and more importantly about her needs & goals. Time will tell how her experience pans out.
In the meantime, Siarra will be sticking to my program and fine-tuning her body with each passing week
